PIRAEUS TOWER 2010- CHANGING THE FACE/FACADE REFORMATION

INTERNATIONAL ARCITECTURE COMPETITION

Our proposal for the competition aims to actively integrate the building into the urban fabric of the city to improve its energy efficiency by using 'smart and environmentally friendly' materials and to create a communication channel with the natural elements dominating the region, wind and sea.

We cover, the sides of the tower with a second continuously variable skin consisting of thousands of small plots from 100% recyclable material. The opening of the new face choreographed by the strength and direction of the wind. It should be noted that these surfaces are not simply decorative. Each of these is a thin sheet of translucent PV associated with motion sensors. As the wind blows captured, along with sunlight, the leaves along the side and converted into energy that meets the relevant requirements of the tower.
